โœงใƒปใ‚œ: how i organize my google drive for maximum efficiency :ใƒปใ‚œโœง:ใƒปใ‚œโœง
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hey lovelies! โœจ
i use google drive to organize mostly everything, and the truth is, my google drive used to be an absolute disaster zone, we're talking hundreds of "untitled document" files and random screenshots saved who knows when. but after one particularly stressful finals week where i lost a paper for three hours, i completely overhauled my system. here's exactly how i organize everything now!
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ the folder structure that changed everything ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
first things first, i use a simple top-level organization system:
๐Ÿ“ ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ด: all school-related files
๐Ÿ“ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ญ: journals, goal tracking, finances, etc.
๐Ÿ“ ๐˜ค๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ฆ: blog drafts, design projects, photos
๐Ÿ“ ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ท๐˜ฆ: completed classes and old projects
๐Ÿ“ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ๐˜ด: templates, reference materials, guides
the key is keeping your top level super simple, i used to have 20+ folders here and it was overwhelming! now i can find anything within seconds because i know exactly which category it falls under.
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ my academic folder system ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
this is the most detailed section of my drive! inside my academics folder:
๐Ÿ“ ๐˜ค๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ
๐Ÿ“ class 1
๐Ÿ“ class 2
๐Ÿ“ class 3
๐Ÿ“ class 4
๐Ÿ“„ semester schedule
๐Ÿ“„ assignment tracker
inside each class folder:
๐Ÿ“ notes
๐Ÿ“ assignments
๐Ÿ“ readings
๐Ÿ“ projects
๐Ÿ“„ syllabus
i color-code each class folder to match my physical notebooks and planner tabs, this visual consistency helps my brain switch between subjects more easily!
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ file naming conventions that save me ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
the absolute game-changer was developing a consistent naming system:
for class notes: DATE_CLASS_TOPIC example: 06.10_psych101_memory_systems
for assignments: CLASS_ASSIGNMENT_STATUS example: econ202_midterm_essay_final
for group projects: CLASS_PROJECT_MYPART_VERSION example: marketing300_campaign_research_v2
this might seem excessive, but it means i never have to open files to figure out what they are! plus, sorting by name automatically puts everything in chronological order.
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ my favorite google drive hacks ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
these little tricks make everything run even smoother:
๐˜ฑ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜บ ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ: i star current project files so they always appear at the top of my drive
๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ: right-click folders to give them colors that match your physical organization system
๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฑ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ ๐˜จ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜บ: i keep a "templates" folder with pre-formatted docs for essays, lab reports, notes, etc.
๐˜ฐ๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ค๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด: i set important folders to be available offline (has saved me during wifi emergencies!)
๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ด: using "type:pdf" or "after:2023-09-01" in the search bar to filter results
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ maintenance routines ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
even the best system falls apart without regular maintenance! here's my schedule:
๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ค๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ถ๐˜ฑ (15 min): every friday afternoon, i sort any stray files into their proper folders and rename anything with default names
(30 min): halfway through each semester, i check that everything is where it should be and create any new folders needed
(1 hour): i move completed classes to my archive folder and set up the next semester's structure
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ sharing & collaboration settings ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
as someone who works on lots of group projects, getting these settings right is crucial:
๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ง๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด: i create specific shared folders for each group project rather than sharing individual files
๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ด: i'm careful about giving "edit" vs "comment" access depending on the project
๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฌ ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ: i always disable "anyone with the link can edit" to avoid accidental changes
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ my best google drive tips ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
create a "quick access" document with links to your most-used files
use google drive's "workspaces" feature to group project files temporarily
download the desktop app to easily drag and drop files
set up automatic google photos backup for screenshots and images
use keyboard shortcuts (shift + n for new folder is my favorite!)
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ final thoughts ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
remember that the perfect organization system is one that works for your brain! mine has evolved over years of trial and error, and i still tweak it each semester. the key is consistency, whatever system you choose, stick with it long enough to make it habit.

How to Study in a Distracting Environment
Unfortunately, not everyone is privileged enough to have their own personal study space or access to a quiet library or cosy cafรฉ - so here are my top tips for when you have to study in a distracting environment!
Headphones are Your Shield: Invest in noise-cancelling headphones or play some soothing instrumental music or white noise to block out external sounds.
Focused Study Sessions: Break your study time into shorter, highly focused sessions with designated break times, such as by using the Pomodoro method. It's easier to maintain concentration for a shorter period.
Offline Mode: Turn off notifications on your devices and set your phone to silent. Only check it during scheduled breaks.
Design a Study Schedule: Establish a routine for studying in distracting environments so that your brain knows when it's time to focus.
Mindfulness Techniques: Practice mindfulness and concentration exercises to train your brain to stay on task despite the chaos.
Be Flexible: Accept that there might still be interruptions. Stay adaptable and return to your studies as soon as possible.
Study Off-Peak Hours: If you can, study during off-peak hours when the environment is less crowded and noisy. In addition, pick the quietest part of the chaotic room to study in.
Remember, distractions are a part of life, but you have the power to overcome them - and hopefully get that essay written while you're at it!

Hello, hows it going?
Im so depressed and unwilling sinceโ€ฆ Thursdayโ€ฆ Friday? theres so much sadness everywhere and as much as I try avoiding it, itโ€™s still round me, and it really does make a negative impact on my daily life. Iโ€™ve been whining about this for four days now though, so Iโ€™ll just talk about some of theโ€ฆ slightly productive things I did.
I didnโ€™t do much for the majority of the weekend, so my Saturday and Sunday were just me sitting around doing nothing, on Sunday afternoonโ„ข๏ธ though I realized I had a lot of assignments for the following week and that I had not gotten started on any of them so I started studying and decided to do my assignments for my architectural expression class which I was supposed to have on Monday (today), BUT THEN our professor let us know that the class was cancelled this week. So I stopped doing that assignment and did nothing for a few hours again then I came back and did like 50% of my design class assignment, which was researching function spaces in hotels. And then I decided that I couldnโ€™t study more and I just went to sleep.
Then today I had a lazy morning again but I did get started at noon, which was an improvement from the days before, I finished the research I had to do and started working on my assignments for my sketching class which areโ€ฆ a lot. And all of them are due this Wednesdayโ€ฆ I have like four different assignments, and Iโ€™ve only managed to do one of them today. I have classes for the whole day tomorrow, so itโ€™s very unlikely that I will get to do the rest of them, unless time magic suddenly becomes real.
Iโ€™m living off of milk-tea and toast. Send help.

1 / 100 days of productivity - 25.8.2023
Not so aesthetic photo but my reality of homeoffice.
I love my lavalamp ( which my mother bought me for christmas last year) an the dried roses my fiance bought me (which i dried one by one afterwards so i dont have to throw them away).
Plants grow well in my flat as its really bright in here (but sadly also very hot atm here in germany with 32ยฐ in the afternoon).
The Chair is also a birthday gift from my fiance and i love it so much. Its so beautiful and comfy.
The book is 'Blink - the power of thinking without thinking' from Malcom Gladwell and on top is my precious phone tresor which i use lately to lock my phone away. I can really recommend this tool. Even if i think i dont look at my phone often... it just releases some extra concentration if i know its not accessible.
I just started my literature analysis for my state of the art paper on control โ˜บ๏ธ. Hopefully i will be finished in December and can hand in the paper for revision in january.
At the moment i really enjoy the 'study with me videos' from Sean Study on Youtube! (As you can see).
And i could never work without at least two screens (also got them at my office).
I wish you good luck and endurance on your (new and ongoing) study projects.
Lots of Love from Germany!

โœงใƒปใ‚œ: summer study tips for when motivation is low :ใƒปใ‚œโœง:ใƒปใ‚œโœง
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hey lovelies! โœจ
can we just acknowledge how hard it is to focus on studying when the sun is shining, everyone's posting beach pics, and your brain is basically melting from the heat? summer studying feels almost criminal sometimes (like, isn't this when we're supposed to be recharging?), but even if you're taking summer classes, prepping for fall semester, or studying for standardized tests, i've got some helpful tips to help you stay on track without missing out on summer magic.
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ why summer motivation hits different ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
let's be honest about why summer studying feels so much harder:
your body literally craves sunlight and outdoor time
everyone else seems to be living their best vacation life
the heat makes focusing genuinely more difficult
your brain is trained to associate summer with freedom
seasonal rhythms are real, and summer is naturally more active and social
knowing this isn't just you being "lazy" is the first step! your brain isn't broken, it's just responding to both biological and social cues that say "put down the textbook and go outside!"
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ create a summer-friendly study schedule ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
the key is working with summer energy, not against it:
๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฌ ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ด: use the hottest part of the day (usually 12-3pm) when you'd be inside anyway for your deepest focus work
๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜จ๐˜ช๐˜ค: if possible, wake up earlier and study when it's cooler and quieter, bonus points for studying outside with birds chirping!
๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด: aim for 45-minute focused blocks instead of marathon 3-hour sessions (your summer brain will thank you)
๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ 2:1 ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ: for every hour of studying, give yourself 30 minutes of true summer enjoyment as a reward
๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ง๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ข๐˜บ: designate one day each week as completely study-free to recharge
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ summer-proof your study environment ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
your environment makes all the difference:
๐˜ค๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ด: study near a fan or air conditioning with a cold drink nearby
๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ๐˜ต๐˜ฅ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜ด๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ด: find a shaded patio, park bench, or beach setup where you can enjoy nature while studying
๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜ข๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ค: bring summer into your study space with fresh flowers, lemon water, and natural light
๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ง๐˜ง๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ: try different iced coffee spots to keep your environment fresh and interesting
๐˜ด๐˜ค๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฐ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ: face away from windows showing beautiful weather when you need deep focus
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ motivation hacks that actually work ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
when your motivation is hiding under a beach umbrella:
๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ด: everything's more fun with friends! find a study buddy and make it social
๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ข๐˜บ๐˜ด: "tropical tuesday" or "fruity friday" with matching snacks and music
๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ๐˜ด: ice cream after finishing a chapter, swimming after completing practice problems
๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜จ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด๐˜ด: create a summer-themed progress tracker (fill in a popsicle for each completed study session)
๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฉ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฐ๐˜ด: find summer study ambience videos that make you feel less alone
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ summer-specific study methods ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
adapt your approach to match the season:
๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ฌ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ด: listen to recorded lectures or educational podcasts while walking outside
25 minutes of study, 5 minutes of dangling feet in water (or any summer treat)
๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ๐˜ฑ๐˜ต ๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ค๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ: apply a layer of understanding before exposing yourself to exam questions
๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ฅ๐˜บ ๐˜ฑ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ด: spread out colorful mind maps on a blanket instead of linear notes
โ‹†.เณƒเฟ”:๏ฝฅ be gentle with yourself ๏ฝฅ:เฟ”เณƒ.โ‹†
most importantly, release the guilt:
summer studying doesn't have to be all-or-nothing
progress > perfection (especially during summer)
your brain literally works differently in hot weather
memories matter too, make sure you're creating some
rest is productive, it's preparing you for future focus
remember that balance looks different in each season. summer might be when you study a little less but live a little more, and that's completely okay. your worth isn't tied to your productivity, especially when the sun is shining and calling your name.

a big lesson for me was learning that most things are not as fragile as Iโ€™d believed. missing a class, or turning in a bad assignment, wonโ€™t instantly destroy your professorโ€™s opinion of you. accidentally saying something harsh wonโ€™t make your friend want to end the friendship. it takes work to repair these things - it takes effort and research and sometimes a sincere apology - but you can do that because theyโ€™re not irreparably broken. what youโ€™ve worked to build, in academia and in relationships and in life, is stronger and more enduring that your mind may teach you to believe. donโ€™t let imagined fragility lead you to giving up
